This 6-day Uganda primates and wildlife safari takes you through the picturesque Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda. On this Uganda safari, you will encounter beautiful sights and sounds of the wilderness as you walk in the Ugandan forest jungles and go on wildlife game drives in the savannahs.

Day 1: Drive from Entebbe or Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, we will drive westwards via various towns like Mubende and Mityana. We’ll have views of the everlasting green landscape of local farms and large tea plantation estates as we proceed to Fort Portal town. Our stop for lunch will be in Fort Portal. Later on, we will transfer to the lodge and relax with the sights and sounds of the forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp

After a hearty breakfast, you will drive to the Kanyanchu Primate Center point for a briefing on chimpanzee tracking and what to expect in the park. You will then enter the forest as you start searching for the chimpanzees. The forest is quite accessible but we prefer that you walk at your own pace with a wildlife ranger who will assist you to accomplish the tracking mission successfully.

During the experience, the ranger guide will explain the life of the chimps, tree species, birds, and other primates. You’ll see primates like the grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus, and black and white colobus monkeys. In the afternoon, you will have another walk in the Bigodi community swamp for birds and monkeys. You can also expect to visit some local communities that do different activities for survival.

Day 3: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth through Crater Lakes Region

You will wake up, have breakfast and drive southwards through the scenic crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth. Have a stop at the equator for photos, then continue to your accommodation for lunch. You’ll then relax as you wait for the afternoon to join the Kazinga Channel boat cruise with lovely sounds and sights of the wilderness and aquatic mammals enjoying their stay in the habitat.

Day 4: Game Drives and Transfer to Bwindi Forest

This morning after breakfast, you’ll embark on a game drive around the Kasenyi Plains. You will look out for different animals like lions, waterbucks, kobs, hyenas, elephants, leopards, and many more. Drive to the Ishasha Plains’ lookout point for the tree-climbing lions as you head off to Bwindi as your final destination for the night. You’ll arrive before it’s too late to prepare for the gorilla-tracking activity. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 5: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking Activity

In the morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast as you prepare for the long-awaited tracking through the jungles of the Bwindi gorilla forests. You will have a general briefing for the gorilla tracking at 8:00 am and then enter the forest trails. The highlight of encountering a family of gorillas will bring up tears of love as you watch the loving apes roam in their natural habitat. You will have an hour with them for an experience that will last a lifetime.

Afterward, we will transfer you to Lake Bunyonyi for an evening of relaxation at this amazing, deep volcanic lake.

Day 6: Drive Back to Kampala / Entebbe

On our last day, we will transfer to Kampala or Entebbe through the rolling countryside. You’ll have a stop at the equator for lunch, to buy crafts and take pictures. Later, we’ll proceed to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight.
